I grew up in an environment where inner health always came FIRST. I wasn't like every other kid at school with a berry roll up & LCM in my lunch box. Mine was packed with brussels sprout sandwiches, sunflower seeds, a handful of spinach & some carrot sticks. My wonderful and very hippy parents loved everything from the garden. My morning always started with a shot of freshly squeezed wheat grass & a carrot juice. Sounds strange, but was actually pretty delicious.
Fast forward to adulthood, I wouldn't say I treat my body with that much respect. I accept all opportunities to dine out, have a few afternoon rooftop wines, eat my body weight in cheese platters & over-fuel my body with coffee.
One day I decided, enough was enough. My body felt tired, flat, bloated and unhappy. I live my life constantly in flight or fight mode, I can never mentally turn off and easily forget to rest. I get so worked up with my daily stresses, I become to overwhelmed to digest my food. I did a little research into different cleanses that were local to Brisbane and was lucky enough to find @solcleanse. I designed my 3 day pack, which included a mixture of juices, smoothies & broths.
My daily cleanse included:
1 x Energise: Lemon, Stevia, Cayenne Pepper, Filtered Water
1 x Love: Beetroot, Carrot, Ginger, Apple, Lemon
1 x Balance: Silverbeet, Cos Lettuce, Cucumber, Celery, Parsley, Lemon
1 x Peace: Cashew, Vanilla, Maca Powder, Dates, Filtered Water
2 x Prana: Filtered Water, Kale, Sea Vegetables, Carrot, Celery, Onions, Garlic, Coconut Oil, Himalayan Salt
Day 1: Your body is getting used to the idea of not consuming any food, yet you are still full due to having a juice or smoothie every couple of hours. Each new juice you have, the incredible flavour shine through and it feels like a smack in the gut of health.
Day 2: This day is a day dedicated to my inner strength and head space. Naturally you will want to wake up, grab your morning coffee and head on your way, but that is not the case. Your body is now in full force towards cleansing itself from the inside out. It is natural to feel quiet tired whilst your body is working hard to repair itself. Take day 2 easy and let your body rest
Day 3: GAME CHANGER!
Hitting the finally day, feels so rewarding. You can feel the difference in every way. Your thoughts are clearer, your body feels stronger, even your organs feel like they are singing. Clearing out all the toxins within your life and allow your body to breathe clearly again. I added a float at @city.cave to help my body recover and recharge. 4 minutes into my 1 hour float, and I was fast asleep (Definitely needed it).
Overall, I couldn't recommend anything more than a cleanse. It doesn't have to be a juice cleanse, it could be a digit cleanse (Having time away from your phone and computer), or a health retreat, or incorporating a new yoga or pilates class into your week. Whatever it may be, remember to care for your body and show it some love every once in a while.
